Post by Suzie NicholsWould recommend Oman for a diving trip to anyone, its very pleasant place,
and provides a quite relaxed and uncrowded winter sun diving break.
I was in Muscat for 6 months last year - did a fair bit of diving
there. The best site, IMO, is the shipwreck. Good penetration for all
levels, and besides, it is a wreck! Demaniyat was ok, but the rest of
the reefs left me a little blah (but the more I dive now, the more I
realize how spoiled I have gotten from diving daily in the Andamans)
I dived with Jannick, of Global Scuba (http://www.global-scuba.com/) -
he was a lot more flexible and able to structure dive trips around my
requirements/interests.
Muscat Divers were good as well, actually - I completed a friend's OW
course, and they were kind enough to loan me gear at fairly reasonable
rates, and let me use their pool for the CW sessions.
Post by Suzie NicholsThere was not much to do for the non diver at our hotel, so those of you
with non-divers in their party might do well to use a larger 5 start hotel
with greater facilities. More on the website.
There isnt much to do in Muscat, period. I would suggest the Chedi as
a place for people to stay. Having been a consultant and spent a vast
part of the last decade living in hotels, I get jaded - but the Chedi
was really special.
